Shunned At A Funeral - Bethesda

I am lying by the waters edge again
Counting years like scars
Upon the stone
Watching bodies rise and walk
Away healed
While my a keeps teaching me
To cry
I've memorized the sound of waiting
Learn the shape of hope deferred
Every ripple marks my ask
Every silence feels unheard
If healing's only
For the fastest hands, then
What becomes of those who can't stand so
I cry out
